Feedly post 2

There were many more posts in my news feed today than yesterday. I also noticed today that I could choose different layouts for the articles to be in. Again, I’m looking for posts that interest me, and most seem to contribute to the daily news day-sports, politics, etc. However I found a strange story on the BBC homepage called “YouTube aids flat earth conspiracy theorists, research suggests”. Some news, such as this, can be considered a lot less important than other articles. Since I gave no specifications of what type of news I’m interested in, any type of news, regardless of how important it may be in my eyes, show up in my feed. Not to say that the news that I deem less important to me is also less interesting.  However, I tend not to fully read those types of stories most of the time. It just seems odd sometimes to see an article for the upcoming super-moon placed right under an article about a terrible shooting. Since I normally receive my news from the associated press twitter (as of recently for another class) and the recommended four articles provided by my phone, I think I’m just not used to such a wide range of news choices and topics to read about. There was an unspoken thought in my mind that if something was so important, than I would hear about it somehow-either by a recommended article or word of mouth. Having a range of articles can not only provide more detail (in certain cases), but can expand my viewpoints.

I wouldn’t necessarily refer to the Feedly website as “expanding my viewpoints” in news, at least not yet. I think I might just have to get used to the formats, or not be confused when some article links just lead to YouTube videos, but right now I don’t think I would use feedly for daily news updates.
