I followed five different news sites in feedly: the associated press, the daily press, cnn, abc, bbc, and npr. Besides what was required, I wanted to follow news sources that I have already heard of and know are popular and fairly unbiased. When I looked at my news feed for the first time, I noticed that it was sorted on “most popular” and “today” instead of by the source of news. Besides saying which news source each particular story was from, it also says when the source was uploaded-some being as early as just three minutes before. Many of the stories were posted incredibly recently (today). There is no real sorting to the news provided (politics, sports, etc.). One story is describing a college basketball player, while another is about the politics about Saudi Arabia, and another about the upcoming Oscars. When I clicked on an article, it had multiple “tags” referring to what the story was about (to make it easier to find in search) and an image/video, as well as a link to the website the story is from. After the story is read, the title becomes grey instead of black to indicate as such. However, some clicks lead to full stories, while others just lead to videos or a short description on the website. I’ve been clicking stories that interest me more, but it took a little while to find a full story. The journalism I read today seems less opinionated and more professional.
